Terms of Use

Please read these terms carefully before using our website or enrolling in any course. By accessing our site or registering as a student, you agree to be bound by the terms set out below.

Last updated: April 2026

1. About These Terms

These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of the Ontario Online Schools website (ontarioonlineschools.ca), our Moodle-based learning platform, and any services or content we make available (collectively, the “Services”). They form a binding agreement between you and Ontario Online Schools (“OOS,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).

By accessing our website, creating a student account, or enrolling in a course, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use our Services.

Where the user is a student under the age of 18, a parent or guardian must review and accept these terms on the student's behalf. Enrollment of a minor constitutes the parent's or guardian's acceptance of these terms.

2. About OOS

Ontario Online Schools is a Ministry-inspected private secondary school operating under BSID #885338, issued by the Ontario Ministry of Education. We are authorized to grant credits toward the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) in accordance with the Education Act (Ontario) and the Ministry's Private Schools Policy and Procedures Manual.

Our principal address is in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. Questions about these terms may be directed to principal@ontarioonlineschools.ca or by phone at 416-357-1386.

3.Eligibility & Enrollment

Our Services are available to secondary school students in Grades 9 through 12, adult learners seeking OSSD credits, and internationally based students pursuing Ontario credits for postsecondary admission. Use of our website for general information purposes is open to anyone.

To enroll in a course, you must:

  • Provide accurate, complete, and current personal and academic information during registration.
  • Pay the applicable tuition fee prior to accessing course materials.
  • For students under 18, have a parent or guardian complete the enrollment process and accept these terms.
  • Meet any course prerequisites identified in the course description.

OOS reserves the right to refuse enrollment or to revoke a student's access where the information provided is found to be false, misleading, or incomplete.

4. Student Obligations

By enrolling in a course, you agree to meet the following obligations throughout your enrollment:

  • Honest and original work — All work you submit must be your own. You may not submit work created by another person, generated by artificial intelligence tools, purchased from a third party, or copied from any source without proper attribution where attribution is permitted by your teacher. Submitting work that is not authentically yours constitutes academic dishonesty.
  • Participation in check-ins— As part of OOS's assessment model, your teacher will schedule structured check-in conversations at key points in your course. You are expected to participate in these check-ins in good faith and to engage honestly with your teacher about your learning.
  • Respectful conduct — You must treat all OOS staff, teachers, and fellow students with respect in all communications, whether through Moodle, email, or any other channel. Harassment, threatening language, discriminatory remarks, or any conduct that creates a hostile environment will not be tolerated.
  • Accurate account information — You are responsible for maintaining the accuracy of your account information and for keeping your login credentials confidential. You must not share your account access with any other person.
  • Compliance with course requirements — You are responsible for understanding the requirements of each course you enroll in, including assessment deadlines, check-in scheduling, and the culminating activity, and for completing your course within the agreed timeline.
  • Compliance with applicable law — You must not use our platform or Services in any way that violates Canadian federal or provincial law, or the laws of your jurisdiction.

5. Academic Integrity

Academic integrity is central to the value of the credits OOS issues. Every credit recorded on your Ontario Student Transcript must reflect genuine learning and authentic achievement. OOS takes academic dishonesty seriously and will investigate any credible concern.

The following constitute violations of academic integrity at OOS:

  • Submitting another person's work as your own, in whole or in part.
  • Using AI-generated content (such as content produced by large language models) and presenting it as your own work, without the explicit knowledge and authorization of your teacher.
  • Copying from online sources, textbooks, or other materials without proper citation where citation is required.
  • Communicating with or receiving assistance from any person during an assessment designated as independent work.
  • Misrepresenting your identity during a teacher check-in or any other component of the assessment process.
  • Altering, fabricating, or falsifying any academic record, grade, or document.

Where academic dishonesty is established, OOS may impose consequences including a grade of zero on the affected assessment, withdrawal from the course without a refund, a notation on the student's record, and reporting to the relevant institution where applicable. Serious or repeated violations may result in permanent withdrawal from OOS.

A note on AI tools. Students may use AI tools as learning aids — for example, to clarify concepts, generate practice questions, or check understanding — where this is consistent with the spirit of the assignment. Using AI to draft, complete, or substantially produce assessable work and submitting that output as your own is not permitted and constitutes academic dishonesty. When in doubt, ask your teacher before submitting.

6.Tuition, Fees & Refunds

Tuition is due in full at the time of enrollment. Course access is granted only after payment has been confirmed. Fees are set out on our Courses page and vary by grade level and student type (domestic or international).

  • Grade 9 & 10 courses — Domestic: $600 per course. International: $1,200 per course.
  • Grade 11 & 12 courses — Domestic: $700 per course. International: $1,400 per course.
  • OEN acquisition and OSR setup — A one-time fee of $300 applies to students who do not yet have an Ontario Education Number. This fee is not charged to students who already hold an OEN.
  • Transcript and grade submission — Sending your official transcript to any institution, and submitting grades to OUAC or OCAS, is provided at no additional charge.

Refund eligibility is as follows:

  • Withdrawal before accessing any course content — Full refund of tuition, less any applicable administrative fees.
  • Withdrawal after accessing content but before completing 30% of the course — 50% refund of tuition.
  • Withdrawal after completing 30% or more of the course — No refund.
  • OEN/OSR setup fee — Non-refundable once the OEN acquisition process has been initiated.

All refund requests must be submitted in writing to principal@ontarioonlineschools.ca. OOS reserves the right to make final determinations on refund eligibility in cases involving academic dishonesty, misconduct, or misrepresentation.

Extensions and deferrals. If you are unable to complete a course within the agreed timeline due to illness, family circumstances, or other serious reasons, contact us before your course window closes. Extensions are considered on a case-by-case basis and are not guaranteed. An extension does not entitle you to a refund of any portion of tuition already paid.

7. Intellectual Property

All course content made available through OOS — including lesson materials, activities, assessments, videos, images, and instructional text — is the intellectual property of Ontario Online Schools or its content licensors. This content is protected by Canadian copyright law.

As an enrolled student, you are granted a limited, personal, non-transferable licence to access and use course materials solely for the purpose of completing your enrolled course. You may not:

  • Copy, reproduce, distribute, or publish any course materials without written permission from OOS.
  • Share your login credentials or course access with any other person.
  • Record, screenshot, or otherwise capture course content for distribution outside the platform.
  • Use course content for any commercial purpose.

Student work submitted through the platform remains the intellectual property of the student. OOS does not claim ownership over student-created work. We retain copies of submitted assessments as part of the student's course record, in accordance with our record-keeping obligations under the Ministry's OSR Guideline.

8. Platform Use

By using our website and Moodle learning platform, you agree not to:

  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of our systems, accounts, or databases.
  • Upload or transmit any content that is unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, obscene, or otherwise objectionable.
  • Introduce malware, viruses, or any code designed to disrupt, damage, or interfere with our platform or services.
  • Scrape, harvest, or systematically extract data from our website or platform by automated means.
  • Impersonate any other person or misrepresent your identity or affiliation in any way.
  • Use the platform in any manner that could damage, disable, or impair our Services or interfere with other users' use of the platform.

OOS reserves the right to suspend or terminate access to any user whose conduct violates these terms or who poses a risk to the integrity, security, or operation of our platform.

9.Transcripts & Credits

Credits earned through OOS are recorded on an official Ontario Student Transcript (OST) issued by OOS under our Ministry-granted credit-granting authority. The accuracy and integrity of credits issued by OOS are governed by the Ministry's inspection and oversight framework.

OOS will send your transcript to institutions you designate upon written request, at no charge. Transcript requests are processed within two to three business days of a course being finalized.

You must not alter, reproduce, or misrepresent any academic record, transcript, or document issued by OOS. Misuse of official records may constitute fraud and may be reported to appropriate authorities.

10. Limitation of Liability

OOS provides its Services on an “as available” basis. While we make reasonable efforts to ensure our platform is reliable and our course content is accurate and current, we do not guarantee uninterrupted access or that the platform will be free from technical errors at all times.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, OOS, its principal, staff, and teachers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising out of or in connection with your use of our Services, including but not limited to disruption of access to the platform, delays in transcript processing, or errors in third-party systems such as OUAC or OCAS.

Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these terms or your use of our Services shall not exceed the amount of tuition paid by you for the course to which the claim relates.

Nothing in these terms limits OOS's responsibility for fraud, gross negligence, or any liability that cannot be excluded by law.

11. Termination

OOS may suspend or terminate your access to the platform and your enrollment in any course, with or without notice, in the following circumstances:

  • Violation of these Terms of Use, including academic integrity violations or misconduct.
  • Providing false, misleading, or fraudulent information during enrollment.
  • Failure to pay applicable fees.
  • Conduct that poses a risk to the safety, security, or integrity of our platform, staff, or other students.

Where enrollment is terminated for cause, refund eligibility will be determined in accordance with Section 6 of these terms. Where termination is due to academic dishonesty or misrepresentation, OOS reserves the right to deny any refund.

12. Governing Law

These Terms of Use are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict of law principles.

Any dispute arising from these terms or your use of our Services that cannot be resolved informally shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the Province of Ontario.

If you are accessing our Services from outside Canada, you are responsible for compliance with local laws that may apply in your jurisdiction.

13. Changes to These Terms

OOS may update these Terms of Use from time to time. When changes are made, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Material changes will be communicated to currently enrolled students by email to the address on file.

Continued use of our Services after updated terms are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
